This Intimate Destination Wedding In Mexico Is Romance At Its Finest

Inside Sasha and Francis’ dream destination wedding at Dreams Resort and Spa Cancun in Mexico

Engaged in the Bahamas, Sasha and Francis decided to complete the experience with a beautiful destination wedding at Dreams Resort and Spa Cancun in Mexico with their closest family and friends. Getting ready was a breeze, everyone was super relaxed getting ready for the big day. Sasha decided to give the resort’s spa a chance to do her hair and makeup, opting to do it herself after if she wasn’t happy with the results. However, the makeup artist/hair stylist did a phenomenal job highlighting Sasha’s natural beauty and creating a gorgeous updo.

Sasha and Francis decided to do a first look before the ceremony. Francis’ face when he saw how gorgeous Sasha looked was absolutely priceless. Although it may have broken tradition, it created a great opportunity for them to have an intimate moment to see each other and talk a little before all the events of the day were about to unfold. Not to mention how good Sasha and Francis looked against that lush tropical green background!

The ceremony took place on the resort and right in front of the beach. It was short and sweet with lots of love in between. I especially loved the unity sand ceremony where Sasha and Francis poured sand into a vase, signifying the intertwining of their lives together. The weather forecast said there would be rain on the wedding day, but we were lucky not see get even one drop! Nevertheless, the bridesmaids were prepared with pretty paper umbrellas which worked great for some creative imagery. Although most couples hope for sunny days as it signifies 0% chance of rain, photographers know the most ideal conditions for their images are overcast cloudy skies which create soft and flattering natural light. Sometimes the risk of rain is a good sign!

My favourite part of the wedding day was being able to pull Sasha and Francis away to capture them alone together. After all the hustle and bustle of the day, it was nice to see them have some time to just enjoy each other’s company and get some beautiful images together. Plus it was on the beach at sunset - it just doesn’t get any more romantic than this!

The reception details were simple yet chic with shells, vibrantly painted beach-themed coasters (made by one of the bridesmaids Shan Nawaz, check out her amazing work at www.shannawaz.com) and personalized cards with sailboats. The original plan was to have the reception outdoors - however due to the potential for rain, the decision was made to set up inside. These details really helped as a reminder of the destination theme of this wedding!

All in all, it was a fun-filled night with funny speeches and LOTS of dancing. It was a great way to celebrate a special day for the entire family. Congratulations to Sasha and Francis on their beautiful wedding and joining their lives together. Wishing them all the happiness and love in the world <3
